After years of not being able to participate in the Sarawak Specialists Society (SSS) meeting, I finally got an opportunity this year. The AGM was held in Bournemouth from the 7th-9th October. The meeting has always been a great place for a warm social gathering and the best place to learn the vast knowledge in British Borneo philately. I also met many old friends such as Fah Onn – the writer of mynorthborneostamps blogspot.
Of course one the main highlights of the meeting was the auction. Some 600 lots were auctioned on Saturday the 8th October most of which are materials from Sarawak. I did pick up several interesting items from North Borneo and Sarawak which will be covered in my next post entry.
These are some of the random pictures taken during the meeting:
The AGM also saw the election of a new president, Mr. Malcolm Gascoyne while Dr. Roger Johnson was elected as the secretary. The rest of the council committee members remained the same. I look forward to the next meeting and auction in spring.
